Melotte 15 in IC 1805, in Casseopeia

Melotte 15 is the bright star cluster in the center of IC 1805, an emission nebula. As shown by the H-alpha image below below, this region emits huge amounts of hydrogen-alpha light.

 Scope

 Astro-Physics 130 EDF at f/4 on 1200 GTO mount.  Camera: SBIG ST-10XME. 

  Guiding with internal chip. Diffraction vanes placed in  the hood of the refractor.

 Exposure

 Above image: 5 frames at 10 min each with Astrodon RGB filters plus 12 frames at 

  5 minutes each  (luminance) with Astrodon 6 nm H-alpha filter. Below image: 12 five minute 

  H-alpha frames.

 Processing 

 Calibrated and combined in MaxIm 4, final processing in PhotoShop.
