NGC 6992 is part of a supernova remnant and with the other parts, NGC 6960 and Pickering's Triangle, represent the gases blown off in a supernova explosion. See a much older film image here.

 Scope  Astro-Physics 130 f4.5 EDF  with ST-10-XME CCD camera. Guiding with ST-10 guide chip.    
 Exposure

 14 x 5 min with no filters.

 Processing  

 Stacked in MaxIm; brightness, histogram, and Richardson-Lucy deconvolution 

 in AIP4WIN; then stretched  in PhotoShop
