Mars in Sagittarius, With Labels
(Click on the image to return to the original)
In addition to the labels, lines have been added to make the teapot more obvious. At a negative magnitude, Mars is far brighter than any star in the field and also far brighter than its antagonist just off to the right of the image, Antares. Among the Messier objects in this area, the open clusters M6 and M7 are easily seen, as are the emission nebulas M8 (Lagoon) and M20 (Trifid). M17 (Swan or Omega nebula) is just disappearing off the top of the image.
